February 26 Fish Fry Cancelled
Due to the snow, tonight’s Fish Fry has been cancelled. Please join us next week.
Fish Fry – Every Friday in Lent 4:30-7:30
There is a great choice of baked or fried fish or shrimp, choice of soups and vegetables, and baked or fried potatoes. Thanks to our talented cooks, cheerful servers, and dedicated parishioners behind the scenes. Volunteers can access the volunteer calendar by clicking on the parish “Calendars” tab”.

Catholic Schools Week
“Catholic Schools – Dividends for Life”
January 28 – February 3
Our St. Alphonsus School observes Catholic Schools Week beginning this Thursday January 28 and Friday, January 29, with Lunch for Parents.
The Mass celebrating Catholic Schools will be Sunday, January 31 at 12:15 pm. There is an Open House from 1:15 to 2:30 pm in the school to which all are welcome next Sunday. Family banners and an Art Display wil be exhibitied in the hallways. Grades 7 and 8 will present their science projects in the cafeteria, and there will be exhibits in each classroom.
Make Us Believers! 2010
Make Us Believers, our Parish Passion Play, will be performed twice this year on the weekend before Holy Week: on Friday, March 26, at 8:00 PM, and Saturday, March 27, at 7:30 PM.
Like last year, the play will be performed on the Ryan Center stage.
Parishioners of all ages are welcome to perform in and assist with the production. We need actors and actresses, singers, technical crew, stage crew, set constructors, and seamstresses to help with costume creation.

Auditions for solo singing parts will be held on Tuesday, January 26, and Thursday, January 28, at 6:30 PM in the new side of the Church. Those interested in singing as part of the chorus need not audition.
Practices will be 6:30-8:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning in February. Please contact the play coordinator and the Director of Liturgical Music & Choir for more information. Mrs. Heagy can be reached at 724.538.5258 or at marheagy@aol.com.
Christmas Mass Schedule
Christmas Eve: 4:00 PM, 7:30 PM & 10:00 PM
The 4:00 PM Mass is preceded by a Christmas music program performed by the folk choir and the young children of the parish. That program begins at 3:15 PM.
The 7:30 PM Mass features music led by teens, college students, and their family members with musical instruments and handbells.
The 10:00 PM Mass is the Midnight Mass Liturgy with adult choir, handbell choir, and musical instrumental strings, brass, and flutes. The Mass is preceded by “Lessons and Carols” that begins at 9:30 PM.
Christmas Day: 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM & 12:15 PM
The 8:00 AM Mass features organ and handbell music.
The 10:00 AM Mass features the music of a vocal ensemble, flutes, and musical instruments.
The 12:15 PM Mass features organ and handbell music.
Christmas Bazaar: December 3 – 6
The St. Alphonsus Christian Mothers Women’s Guild is holding its annual Christmas Bazaar and Wine and Cheese Party this week from Thursday December 3, to Sunday, December 6.
Visit the Ryan Center on Thursday, December 3th from 7– 9 PM for the Wine and Cheese Party or Saturday, December 6, starting at 6:00 PM or Sunday, December 7 from 9 AM – 2:00 PM.
We offer baked goods; chocolates; and handmade crafts, ornaments, wreaths, centerpieces and more.
We have great raffle prizes and many silent auctions. Raffle tickets can be purchased from any CMWG member and they are six for $5.00.
Welcome Father Andrew C. Fischer!
Father Andrew C. Fischer will be coming to our parish this Monday, November 30. He is originally from this area having attended St. Mary Parish and School in Glenshaw. Fr. Fischer was ordained a priest in 1982 and has attended to various pastoral and diocesan ministries over the years with recently being Parochial Vicar at St. Paul Cathedral.
Next Sunday, Father Fischer will be meeting parishioners after the 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Masses in the Ryan Center as part of the Christmas Bazaar. Father Fischer will also meet parishioners after the 5:00 p.m. Saturday Mass in the cafeteria.
New Pastoral Assignment for Father Sean Francis!
Father Sean Francis will report to his new pastoral assignment as Parochial Vicar of St. Vitus Parish, New Castle, on Monday, November 30. Father Sean will be assisting Father John Petrarulo, Administrator of the parish. St. Vitus is the largest parish in the city of New Castle and has a parish school. Father Sean’s address will be 910 S. Mercer St., New Castle, PA 16101. We wish all the best to Father Sean and will keep him in our prayers as he begins his new assignment.
All Souls Day
The Masses for All Souls Day will be celebrated on Monday, November 2 at 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM. These Masses will be offered for the Souls of the Faithful Departed of our parish families, and relatives and friends of parishioners.
The Prayers at the Cemetery for All Souls Day will take place at our parish cemetery following a procession from our church after the 9:00 AM Mass on Monday.
We especially commend to the Lord our priests and Sisters who have served our parish, especially Father William Schroeder, our pastor from 1971 to 1998.
The pastors of our parish who are buried in our cemetery are Father Ferdinand Angel, pastor of St. Alphonsus 1930 – 1964 and Father Charles Duwell, pastor 1904 – 1910.
There is a memorial marker here for Father Joseph Sedlmair, pastor 1910 – 1930, whose body is buried in Germany.
Parish Pictorial Directory
Photography begins Tuesday November 3 through Saturday, November 11, and then the following Tuesday and Wednesday for families of the parish for the Parish Pictorial Directory. Photograph sessions will be extended to December 8 – 12.
Pastoral Council has approved and encouraged Lifetouch Church Services to produce a pictorial yearbook for our parish. We are asking all of our parishioners to participate because, after all, it won’t be complete without YOU!
Every household in the album with receive a free book.
Every family will also receive a complimentary 8 x 10 portrait with the ability to order additional portraits.

Irish Heritage Golf Classic
The North Hills Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians is holding its Irish Heritage Golf Classic on Friday, September 18, at the Pittsburgh National Golf Club in Gibsonia. (Shotgun start at 1:30 PM.)
The money raised by this event benefits its Tuition Assistance Fund for Catholic Elementary Schools in the North Side/North Hills.
The cost is $100 per person ($400 per team) and includes lunch and dinner, door prizes, and prizes on selected holes. Tee sponsorships are available for $100 or via other donations. Registration begins at 11:30 AM.

Saturday Night Live
Saturday Night Live is here once again. We will be playing dodge ball and discussing different aspects about our Catholic Faith. August 22nd after the 5 pm Mass, we will be meeting under the new side of the Church in the Old Gym. We will provide pizza, snacks and drinks. Come on out for fun, fellowship, and food. Please feel free to bring your friends.
Service Saturday
Once again we have the opportunity to serve Jesus in another person in need. Saturday August 15th after the 9 am Mass we will be meeting at the rectory. We will help a woman who needs items moved out of her house. Please wear work clothes, tennis shoes or boots, and bring work gloves if possible. We will provide drinks, snacks and pizza. We will meet back at the rectory at 4 pm.
