CCD

For those interested in volunteering to teach CCD, please see important information regarding the application process below.

CCD classes for Kindergarten through 12th Grade are held on Mondays during the school year.  Classes meet from 6 – 7:15 p.m. in the school building.

Every returning student in the Religious Education Program must register each recurring year. We do not assume any child will be enrolled in the program until we first hear from the parent or guardian. You may register your children online on the Religious Education page of this website or by picking up a form at the Religious Education Office in the Rectory. Please be sure to indicate the grade level which each child will be entering in the Fall. The required Registration Fee is $25 per student. Checks may be made payable to “St. Alphonsus Parish CCD” and mailed to the Religious Education Office.

Please note that the Registration Fee must also be sent by standard mail for those families who register online.

A copy of the child’s Baptismal Certificate must also be sent to the Religious Education Office for all first-time students who were not baptized at St. Alphonsus. Also, according to our parish policy, all families of CCD students must be registered members of St. Alphonsus Parish. If you are not a registered member of the parish, you may contact the Parish Secretary at 724-935-1151. This call, however, will not suffice for CCD Registration.

Finally, but most importantly, I want to stress the necessity of making sure your children attend Mass every Sunday as well as regular Confession (monthly or as needed), and that they speak with God in prayer each day. It is essential for families to take the time to pray together often.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR NEW CCD TEACHERS / ASSISTANTS:
The Religious Education Program is always in need of good men and women to serve either as Catechists or Assistants. Those interested should contact Louis Bosco either by phone at 724-935-1160 or by email at sacredbread@gmail.com to schedule an interview. As you may know, the Church has put into place particular guidelines for all volunteers at the parish level, designed to help keep our young people safe from sexual and other forms of abuse. Please understand that adherence to these guidelines is a critical part of maintaining a safe environment for our children. According to these guidelines, all who work and minister at the parish level are required to register with the Diocese of Pittsburgh. For more information regarding this process, please also contact Louis Bosco.
